Backyard Garden Eggplant. Eggplant are very versatile and can be planted in traditional gardens, raised beds or containers. It would be wise to use a stake or cages to support plants before the fruit begins to ripen.
Plant seeds one-fourth inch deep, in flats containing sterile, soilless germination mix. Eggplants will require plenty of water! Eggplants need consistent heat, from seed germination right to harvest.
Although, this goal is hard to achieve and perhaps may even feel unachievable.
When planting eggplant, be sure to add a structural support when planting.
Eggplants grow well in containers, but do better if you plant them in a dark colored container… it helps keep the soil warm! Its effectiveness against aphids and garden moths is remarkable. Take care to notice what plants are around the area as well, see the companion plant section below.
